María Corazón Sumulong Cojuangco Aquino was a very important president and the first female president. She won against President Ferdinand Marcos in 1986. Marcos died three years after. Her term was only a transitory government. She participated in Edsa Revolution 1986 against Marcos when her husband was assassinated.



Death[]

Mrs. Aquino died peacefully on August 1, 2009 just twenty days before her husband's death anniversary. She is survived by her children. Her son Benigno, became president in the succeeding year.
